Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said she respects the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision on the relocation of 300,000 Makati residents in Taguig.
“Wala na pong paraan para magiba pa ng—supreme court, kaya nga supreme sila na po ang may final say kung ano po ang niging desiyon sa Taguig atsaka Makati,” Binay said in an interview with DZRH’s Breaktime.
According to Binay, the case took them more than 30 years to fight its legal battle since his father, Jejomar Binay, also a former Mayor of Makati.
“I feel na it will be futile, kahit naman magrally pa tayo maglupasay pa tayo sa supreme court wala namang mangayayre— hindi na magbabago ang desisyon ng supreme court,” the Mayor said.
“Rerespetuhin po natin ang desisyon dahil bilang abogado kailangan nating sumunod sa desisyon ng supreme court,” she added.
On Monday, Binay released a video statement posted on the Makati City government's official Facebook page, expressing her dismay that the higher court turned down their petition to reverse the decision regarding the Taguig-Makati land dispute.
“Nakakasama naman po ng loob yung nangyare pero kailangan po nating respetuhin nag desisyon ng supreme court, ang akin naman po sa abot ng kaya kong gawin ay gagawin parin para matulungan parin ang sampung barangay na apektado,” it noted.
